Surah Aaraf
The seventh Surah of the Holy Quran, which has 206 verses. This is Makki surah.
Name
This Surah is named Araaf because in its verses 46 and 47, Araaf and the Companions are mentioned. As if calling it “Surah A’raf” means “the surah in which A’raf is mentioned”.
The time of descent
By considering its contents, it is intuitively felt that its time of revelation is almost the same as that of Surah Inam. It cannot be said with certainty whether it was revealed earlier or not, but it is clear from the style of speech that it is related to this period. Surah Aaraf
The main theme of the speech of this surah is the invitation to the Prophet. A long time has passed since the people (i.e. the people of Makkah) were being addressed, and their stubbornness, obstinacy and opposition had reached such a level that soon the Prophet would be ordered to stop speaking to them and turn to others is to be found.
Therefore, along with inviting them to accept the Messengership in an understanding manner, they are also being told that the same attitude you have adopted towards your Prophet, the nations before you have adopted a similar attitude towards their Prophets.
Have seen a bad end. Then, since the evidence for them has come to an end, in the last part of the speech, the direction of the invitation has turned away from them to the People of the Book, and in one place, a general address has been addressed to the people of the whole world.
It is a sign that the emigration is near and the period in which the Prophet’s address is all to those close to him is about to end. During the speech, since the direction of the address has also turned towards the Jews, at the same time, this aspect of the Prophet’s call has also been made clear, that after believing in the Prophet, he must adopt a hypocritical attitude towards him and obey him.
What is the fate of breaking it after building it and remaining involved in falsehood after learning the difference between right and wrong? In the last part of this Surah, the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his Companions are given some important instructions regarding the wisdom of preaching and they are specifically advised to be patient in the face of the provocations and slanders of the opponents. Act from the heart and don’t take any action under the influence of emotions which will harm the main goal.

نام
اس سورہ کا نام اعراف ہے کیونکہ اس کی آیات 46 اور 47 میں اعراف اور صحابہ کرام کا ذکر ہے۔ گویا اسے “سورہ اعراف” کہنے کا مطلب ہے “وہ سورہ جس میں اعراف کا ذکر ہے۔”
نزول کا وقت
اس کے مندرجات پر غور کرنے سے یہ محسوس ہوتا ہے کہ اس کے نزول کا وقت تقریباً سورہ انعام کے برابر ہے۔ یہ یقین کے ساتھ نہیں کہا جا سکتا کہ یہ پہلے نازل ہوئی تھی یا نہیں، لیکن اندازِ گفتگو سے معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ اس کا تعلق اسی دور سے ہے۔ اس لیے اس کے تاریخی پس منظر کو سمجھنے کے لیے سورہ انعام کے مضمون کو دیکھ لینا کافی ہوگا۔
مباحثے
اس سورہ کی تقریر کا اصل موضوع پیغمبر کی دعوت ہے۔ لوگوں (یعنی اہل مکہ) سے خطاب کیے ہوئے ایک طویل عرصہ گزر چکا تھا اور ان کی ضد، ہٹ دھرمی اور مخالفت اس نہج پر پہنچ چکی تھی کہ عنقریب نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو حکم دیا جائے گا کہ وہ ان سے بات کرنا بند کر دیں اور دوسروں کی طرف رجوع کریں۔
پایا جانا ہے. اس لیے انہیں افہام و تفہیم کے ساتھ قبولِ رسالت کی دعوت دینے کے ساتھ یہ بھی بتایا جا رہا ہے کہ جو رویہ تم نے اپنے نبی کے بارے میں اختیار کیا ہے، وہی رویہ تم سے پہلے کی امتوں نے اپنے انبیاء کے بارے میں اختیار کیا ہے۔
برا انجام دیکھا ہے۔ پھر جب سے ان کی شہادتیں ختم ہو چکی ہیں، تقریر کے آخری حصے میں دعوت کا رخ ان سے ہٹ کر اہل کتاب کی طرف ہو گیا ہے اور ایک جگہ عام سے خطاب کیا گیا ہے۔
پوری دنیا کے لوگ. یہ اس بات کی علامت ہے کہ ہجرت قریب ہے اور جس دور میں پیغمبر کا خطاب تمام قریبی لوگوں سے ہے وہ ختم ہونے کو ہے۔ تقریر کے دوران چونکہ خطاب کا رخ بھی یہودیوں کی طرف ہو گیا ہے، اس کے ساتھ ساتھ دعوتِ رسول کا یہ پہلو بھی واضح کر دیا گیا ہے کہ نبی پر ایمان لانے کے بعد آپ کے ساتھ منافقانہ رویہ اختیار کرنا چاہیے۔
اس کی اطاعت کرو. اس کی تعمیر کے بعد اسے توڑنا اور حق و باطل کا فرق سیکھ کر باطل میں مبتلا رہنے کا کیا حشر ہے؟ اس سورہ کے آخری حصے میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اور آپ کے صحابہ کرام کو تبلیغ کی حکمت کے حوالے سے چند اہم ہدایات دی گئی ہیں
اور انہیں خاص طور پر مخالفین کی اشتعال انگیزیوں اور طعنوں کے سامنے صبر کرنے کی تلقین کی گئی ہے۔ دل سے کام کریں اور جذبات کے زیر اثر کوئی ایسا اقدام نہ کریں جس سے اصل مقصد کو نقصان پہنچے۔
